{diy} Chunky Magnets

chunky magnet

I have so many old magnets from pizza places, restaurants, doctors, old calendars etc… and while I like the purpose the serve for hanging notes, appointment cards, etc. I don’t like the looks of them. So I gave them a face lift with the faces I Love! And I made my own chunky magnets for my fridge.

What you need:

  • Picture(s)
  • Old magnets
  • 5 mm thick foam sheet
  • Mod Podge
  • Black Sharpie

Here’s how to do it:

  • Trim the photo to the size you want
  • Trim the magnet to the same size as the photo
  • Trim the foam sheet to the same size as the photo & magnet

  • Brush Mod Podge on one side of foam, then apply magnet
  • Brush Mod Podge on the other side of foam, then apply photo
  • Place something heavy on it while it dries. This will give it a good seal &  bond
  • Use the sharpie to hide the white edges of the photo & magnet that is showing. I also ran the sharpie a crossed the foam so it all blended
  • Apply 2-3 coats of Mod Podge on the sides & top
  • Mod Podge the sides first then lay magnet a few skewers or pencil so the edges can dry without sticking

That’s it! How easy was that?! And they look so much better!!
